Special Services Q. How do I make arrangements for special needs and/or assistance? A. Please contact your local South African Express Office.
Q. Can my child travel alone on a South African Express flight? A. Children between the ages of 5 and 12 may travel unaccompanied. For young passengers travelling alone, we have separate check-in facilities and dedicated ground staff to help on departure and arrival. Q. Can my pet travel in the cabin with me? A. Live animals and all pets are not permitted in the cabin of South African Express aircraft. They can be accepted as checked baggage (and carried in the aircraft hold) for which normal excess baggage rates will apply or, as cargo at applicable cargo rates. Live animals and all pets can only be accepted provided that the IATA Live Animals Regulations are met in there entirety, as well as any additional government regulations which apply in the state of origin, transit and destination. Q. Is it possible to use my CD player and laptop on the plane? A. Electronic devices such as CD players, radios, televisions can interfere with the aircraft navigation system. We ask customers to refrain from using these devices during the flight. Laptop computers, computer games, cassette recorders and electric razors may be used during the flight, however, must not be used during take-off and landing. If in doubt, contact your local South African Express office.

Q. What are Dangerous Goods A. Dangerous Goods are items that may endanger the safety of an aircraft or persons on board the aircraft. Dangerous Goods are also known as restricted articles, hazardous materials and dangerous cargo. Their carriage on South African Express aircraft is primarily governed by the Civil Aviation Authority Regulations. Dangerous Goods must not be carried in (or as) passenger or crew-checked baggage or carry-on baggage, except as indicated in the table below. Security type attaché cases incorporating Dangerous Goods, such as lithium batteries or pyrotechnic devices, are totally forbidden. Disabling devices such as mace, pepper spray, etc. containing an irritant or incapacitating substance is prohibited on the person, in checked and carry-on baggage.
